A Part of Me

A part of me died 
The day he went away
To the blinding light


A part of me was taken
The time he closed his eyes
And left me all alone


A part of me was born
A new flicker of light
Deep down my heart


A part of me was alive
Struggle to be free
To fly into the sky


A part of me is still inside
A hidden heartbeat
That binds me to life


A part of me is remembering
The day he said goodbye
The life he left behind


A part of me is here
Standing still in time
Fighting for life
